Fingers crossed
On Wednesday I wrote a bit a discouraged post with the title "No progress". While I was editing and about to publish it, some news came in and I didn't end up finishing it.
As you remember I said the carpenter was scheduled for the 20th and before that the digger had to come to flatten the soil around the foundation pillars, nothing of that had happened by the 20th...
Up to Wednesday it was still unclear on when that all will happen.
Then Wednesday the news came, that the digger comes next Monday and the carpenter on Tuesday. That felt a lot better already, but I also wasn't feeling sure until I see it happen. I felt even better on Friday when the digger came to bring the machine for Monday, so it feels quite a bit more concrete. In the end it is just one week of delay of the current schedule, that is not that bad. For now I am waiting to see what happens Monday...It looks promising, but let's keep the fingers crossed anyway just to be sure ;).

Another delivery...the last one, this time for real...
So in the end there was a 3rd truck load! The truck driver was right. I didn't really want to doubt him, but it was definitely less stressful to believe that they had made a mistake :). It arrived on Monday afternoon and the truck driver said, they were actually supposed to come on Friday but something went wrong, so even if he is technically on vacation he brought it that afternoon. To believe we had the complete house already delivered, gave me some peace of mind over the weekend, and to now have the confirmation to have the whole house on our property is definitely a relieve!!!

No delivery...
Today just a short update. The delivery that everybody announced for today did not come...So I am just hoping that the two truck drivers who told us that there would be another delivery were wrong and that the parts that are actually on our property are the whole house!
I just want to think that for now! Because as I said, they are closed for the rest of the month, and we need the parts this month! I looked at all the material and it is difficult to say, but they could be all the parts :).

And again! :)
Today again we had a surprise load of what turned out to be the second third of our house! We were expecting the second "half" of our house on Friday, however it turned out that there were two truck load left after Tuesday's. So today afternoon, just as I was about to leave, a truck with house parts with our name on it drove by our property and then back tracked, which is quite common, since our place does not seem to be recognized as an address in the GPS. This time we had still enough space and hopefully tomorrow the last third comes as expected and will still fit. I will let you know.

Surprise surprise!!!
Yesterday we were just having breakfast as we see a truck driving by our property with what at first glance looked like a load of wood. Nothing too particular, that happens relatively often, since there are a few building sites in the region. However, it came back and stopped at our property and at the second glance they were house walls and they had our name on it!!! We weren't expecting our house before next Monday!!!! We had some space left on our property but none of it was reachable with the crane arm of the truck!! In split seconds we had to find a solution, since the truck driver was already considering driving back with the house and come back for mid September, because next weeks many businesses close for the month for vacation. There was no way I could let this happen!!! The carpenter is booked for August 20... The only place that was realistic to put the house parts were where our trailer was standing. So quickly we moved all our stuff and the trailer with the help of our very kind neighbors and a few people that were around. So finally we could unload half of our house!!! What a day!!! Things are coming together!!! Gratefulness!!!
And then after all the excitement with the house and all the work even more wood came!!! Most probably for our first floor and porches. Fortunately this one we could fit on the other side of our property.
I am sooo grateful they are all delivering before they close up for vacation!!!

Slow momentum defreeze
We arrived back on the building site almost a week ago. We found the building site considerably changed, which is quite thrilling!! It starts to look like a real building site now :)!!
The momentum is slowly coming back, or is it faster then I think? I probably still have to get used to what it means to build a house and the time it takes :).
The wholes in the ground for the foundation have been dug and filled with cement and metal reinforcement. There is also material stored up everywhere ready to be used and it keeps coming... Before yesterday the cement and more metal reinforcement came and yesterday the mason was working on the second round of our foundation, the above ground pillars on which the first floor will be build on.
Now it is obviously full summer here and the afternoon hours are hot. We are still working on strategies on how to deal with the heat without a heat proof shelter. We are currently also not sleeping that well in the trailer. Last year we slept in our great canvas tent and I am missing that, but for now there is no space for that. I wish I would be more efficient at shaking off the mood the lack of sleep puts me in :), as well as this lingering worry state if-everything-is-really-going-to-happen-without-further-delays, which is probably enhanced by my poor sleep...
The envisioned schedule for now is, that the wood structure arrives on August 6, the carpenter will start to put it together on the August 20, and beginning of September we will start our part of the work!!!
